The co-founders have extensive experience within the tourism industry as they have been working for an Icelandic travel company for more than 10 years before creating Wayop.
The idea for the company germinated when the Icelandic travel industry was getting digitalized. The online presence of operators started growing and bookings were flowing in from multiple sources. However, daily tasks like booking confirmation, customer pickups, guides and drivers’ assignments, as well as vehicle handling remained very manual and time consuming. Often resulting in errors discovered at the last minute, it became clear that the market was lacking a tool focused solely on operations.
